Boys To Men - Gimme More
Men!
by Tallulah Givehead
This is a superb collection of short films and ah
raise mah martini glass in salute! L'il ol' Tallulah
gits sooo bored with some of the anthologies of gay
films out there but Boys to Men is an entertaining
and sometimes sexy collection of gay male shorts
that span the generations. Crush, The Mountain King,
..lost, The Confession - this is a must-have.
An outstanding quartet of films that begins with a
gay coming of age, Crush (Phillip
Bartell). Robbie (Brett
Charles) is a gawky 16-year-old whose fondness
for boy bands delights the 12-year-old Tina (Ema
A. Tuennerman) until she learns just how much he
likes them. Realizing that the only way to keep her
new friend is to help him find happiness with the
boy of his dreams, Tina puts a plan in motion.
The Mountain King, (Duncan
Tucker) is a seductive fable about two
twenty-something strangers (played by
John Sloan and
Paul Dawson) who meet on a beach and return to a
nearby house for sex and skinny dipping. After their
night together, however, one's innocence is gone
forever. Pitch perfect performances and excellent
camera work make for a sexy and fun short.
...lost (Dan
Castle) has two gorgeous men getting it on in
the middle of the afternoon and then simply say
"bye". The film portrays the shallowness of the gay
male subculture of quickie sex and drugs.
The Confession (Carl
Pfirman) is a poignant story about an elderly
gay couple who come to terms with their relationship
when one of them, who is dying, suddenly requests a
priest. The final short with difficult subject
matter manages to remain breezy and instructive for
all of you guys out there who mistakenly think life
ends for a gay men at 40.
86 minutes / Widescreen / Chapter selection.
