For the second installment of must see lesbian films, I have selected Bound. Bound has received much acclaim for its production and cast, as well as being a highly recognized lesbian film. A brilliant lesbian film, produced by the Wachowski brothers, Bound is a film that should be viewed by lesbians and lesbian-film lovers alike.

The premise of the film concentrates around Violet (played by Jennifer Tilly) and her rocky relationship with her husband, Caesar ( portrayed by Joe Pantoliano). A third element to the film is added when Corky (Gina Gershon), an ex- con that has just been released from jail, moves into the apartment building. Looking for a new life apart from men, especially her husband, Violet begins to seduce Corky, and the relationship is quickly consecrated. Violet confesses to Corky the next day that her husband, Caesar, is involved with the mafia, and that she wants Corky’s help to pull her out of the volatile situation. For the passion that Corky has for Violet, she is quick to help Violet scheme a means out of the situation.

Many in the lesbian community have appreciated Bound as it is a movie that is more about the plot and less about the intimate standpoints in a lesbian relationship. Since its release in 1996, Bound has received many accolades for its directing, performance and theme. There is no denying that Bound has made a name for itself in the LGBT realm, as it has also received great backing from the likes of GLAAD and top name critics. Bound not only made waves over a decade ago, but continues to be one of the must see lesbian films of all time.
