A sexy and marvelous French film about a French/Arab gay man Felix who sets off on a journey in search of family with a backpack and a rainbow kite. FABULOUS! A very well done flick. Drama! Comedy! Plus Felix is gorgeous. I wish more gay filmed were filmed with this level of production and acting skills. Ooo-La-La! I think I’ll go watch it again! C’mon baby! Take that shirt of for l’il ol’ me one more time!

An extremely entertaining and sensual gay road movie. Felix (Sami Bouajila) is a gentle, carefree French-Arab living in Normandy with his lover, who, after finding himself suddenly unemployed, decides to Read the rest of this review »

Refreshing! Burst the post-Almodovar gay-ghetto movie bubble with unflinching honesty.
- Village Voice

An amusing and touching film about reinterpreting the idea of “family,” Bear Cub tells the engaging story of Pedro (José Luis García-Pérez), an attractive gay dentist living an active single life in Madrid. He offers to take care of his adorable 9-year-old nephew Bernardo (the remarkable David Castillo) for two weeks while the child’s mother travels abroad with her Read the rest of this review »

Boyfriends

Three couples (plus one) converge at a beautiful English cottage to celebrate a birthday. Oh, my, what a bore … drama queens without a sense of drama. The inevitable comparisons to Big Chill and Boys in the Band only serve to remind us we’ve seen it all before. However, despite a strong sense of deja vu the actors do a great job of making these characters very real.

This insightful and vastly entertaining comedy-drama, depicting three troubled gay male couples, is both knowingly funny and unflinchingly on-target. The story revolves around an Easter weekend Read the rest of this review »

Mandragora

Mandragora, a film directed by Wiktor Gorecki, is a sad, viscous, and heavy-handed film of familiar (if stereotypical) themes - prostitution, drugs, self-loathing and the saddest theme of all - gay people (in this case boys) are a miserable lot doomed to a life of misery and death. Now … Ta has been around the block a time or two and has managed to experience in one way or t’other these themes and has managed to still be extremely FABULOUS (Though, ah ayum not quite as fabulous as the wonderful Lady Bunny.)

Wiktor Gorecki condemns the lifestyle and wallows in obvious sexual fascination in this drama that recounts sixteen-year-old Read the rest of this review »

Steam

“Steam” is a slow, sensuous meandering journey both in its cinematic pacing and in the lead character, Francesco’s, coming out, coming home story. For a movie about hamam’s - Turkish steam baths - there’s a paucity of nudity!

Francesco (played by the GEORGEOUS Alessandro Gassman) and his wife Marta ( Francesca D’Aloja) run a successful interior design firm in Rome. But their marriage is on the rocks, with Marta, feeling neglected, secretly carrying on an affair with their mutual business Read the rest of this review »

While some might quote the marketing headline, “Come Undone is a sexually charged and intelligent French film about two young guys in love - plenty of nudity, sex and substance!” ah think this ol’ Suthen Belle is goan to reveal her inner feathahz … Ah really don’t understay-und French films. Thay-uh always so … so … boring. So much “day-in-the-life” style and not enough DRAMA. An this queen needs her drama. Yes. Ta is a victim of American movie pablum.

Gorgeous bronzed bodies on the beaches of southern France and a passionate romance between two French teens are reason enough to see Come Undone, but this bittersweet film also has something poignant to say about Read the rest of this review »

Puhleez help us oh Lord! Not only must we fight the homophobic world at large, we have to be wary of homophobia in the guise of gay films! “Taboo” is just one such film. Luring us with its brilliant cinematography, costuming, set design, superb acting (for all except the lead); it’s ending leaves us with the message tht homosexuals must be murdered because they disturb society’s equilibrium. Hayuvn’t we hayud enough of this?

The year is 1865 - the location is Kyoto, Japan - and the scene is a samurai training school where new recruits are being tested with their fencing skills. These samurai warriors are to keep peace in a Kyoto which is being sorely tested Read the rest of this review »

Damned If You Don’t

Religion has long played an important role in the LGBT community, whether it was as a negative or a positive impact. One such must see lesbian film that has religious tones all throughout the movie is Damned if You Don’t. This movie, which is brilliant in its cinematography tones of black and white shots, was filmed two decades ago in 1987.

The main theme of the movie is based on a nun, as portrayed by Peggy Healey, and her livelihood in the convent. As many people know, nuns can not be sexually active, and must refrain from sexual tendencies as a part of worshiping God as well as giving respect to the church. Many nuns Read the rest of this review »

In reality, coming out to y’alls family is scary and rife with Drama (Yes. “Drama” with a capital “D!”). In the movies, this event is more often filled with mis-understandings and laughter … especially when the family is completely in the dark. Me? My Momma always knew and Papa simply said nothing … Ah was so ready for nasty drama that it was a total let down! I knew Ah should wore mah best dress!

Ah think mah favorite gay movie of ALL TIME must be The Wedding Banquet - as much for it’s handsome lead actors Winston Chao (ooooooo … Ah have such a thing for Asian boys!) and Mitchell Lichtenstein Read the rest of this review »
