karen_williams_snackOMG! The other day I received a screener for a new DVD from Ariztical Entertainment by comedian Karen Williams titled, “I Need a Snack!” The DVD is due out January 13th, 2009. But don’t wait! Pre-Order it now! HERE. I kid you not this is the best example of a stand-up artist as you will ever witness.

Now, Karen might be a bit embarrassed that I first discovered her from her comedy CD on Uproar Entertainment from like a billion years ago. I thought she was funny then … wow. While her acts have always leaned toward rude and sexual she’s  Read the rest of this review …

Meanwhile, ace investigative reporter extraordinaire, Al Manac (James Vallo - reprising his role from another indie film, Space Daze), has been held captive for two years in their space lair, the victim of unending and unimaginable exploratory exams, which  include degrading forms of “probing”.

Anxious to initiate their evil bidding, the aliens beam Al back home to earth in an attempt to force him to carry out  Read the rest of this review »

A pioneering actor in the independent film world, Craig Chester scored a 1993 Independent Spirit Award nomination for his role in the drama Swoon (1992), and has appeared in many other Sundance faves. In “Adam & Steve” Craig Chester makes his directorial debut with this raucous and candy-colored romantic comedy about the pitfalls of falling in love in New York City.

At the Limelight disco, where shoulder pads and acid-washed jeans reign supreme, Goth guy Adam (Chester) and his fag hag Rhonda (a hilarious Parker Posey) meet Steve (Malcolm Gets), a Solid gold dancer wanna-be. Adam Read the rest of this review »

A contemporary romantic comedy about the universal quest for that one true love. Awwww … how sweet. All Over the Guy is mah kind of movie … finding love and getting it in the … uh … end. Ahem. Decently filmed and acted though there are a few slow spots and the movie lacks a true hard … uh … edge. Yeah. Everybody’s just so damned sweet. You there! Boy! Why’s my martini glass empty?

Opposites attract in this romantic comedy about two very different gay men and their search for true love. Eli (Dan Bucatinsky, who wrote the screenplay based on his stage production) is a cute, neurotic X-Files Read the rest of this review »

Totally rocking, Another Gay Movie takes us on an ass-tacular journey as four adorable gay teens do their best to get laid the summer they graduate from high school. Yes. You HAVE heard the plot before … in several movies of its ilk … American Pie being the most recently famous (Now relegated to the land of un-ending, un-spectacular bad sequels.) Only this time, its filmed in a world where homosexuality is the norm. Ahhhhh. If this were only the case.

Let’s meet the targets of affection: You have studly jock Jarod (Jonathan Chase), who thinks he’s “top” but we all know better; nerdy Griff (Mitch Morris), who secretly harbors a crush on Jarod while obsessing about Read the rest of this review »

Ah, sweet love. This beautifully filmed flick should be shared with your favorite date. These guys take their time fallin’ for each other and like real life don’t see it until they fall into it. However, unlike mah birthplace in Kansas, the townsfolk are unreasonably accepting of the homos in their midst! Kinda burst mah bubble. Ah love all the extra materials! Ta wishes every filmmaker would put similar effort into the bonus portion.

This warm and cuddly new film tells a traditional tale of the triangulated relationship with several new spins. Read the rest of this review »

Refreshing! Burst the post-Almodovar gay-ghetto movie bubble with unflinching honesty.
- Village Voice

An amusing and touching film about reinterpreting the idea of “family,” Bear Cub tells the engaging story of Pedro (José Luis García-Pérez), an attractive gay dentist living an active single life in Madrid. He offers to take care of his adorable 9-year-old nephew Bernardo (the remarkable David Castillo) for two weeks while the child’s mother travels abroad with her Read the rest of this review »

Bedrooms and Hallways

Side-splitting farce about a handsome homosexual’s involvement with a not-so-heterosexual hunk. Bedrooms and Hallways satirizes issues of sexual identity, gay promiscuity, and male actualization methods with wit and grace. WONDERFUL! A fast-paced movie with snippy, campy dialogue. The acting is delicious. Ah’m now in love with Hugo Weaving! Ah swoon. Get me a mint julep! And Tom Hollander’s character reminds me of me when ah was just a l’il whippersnapper.

Bedrooms and Hallways is a hilarious comedy about the tangled love affairs of a gay man. Failed romantic Leo (Kevin McKidd) is just hitting 30. His roommate Darren (Tom Hollander) only reminds him Read the rest of this review »

Sean Hayes’ film debut as Billy - just a regular gay guy looking for love and longing to connect in this crazy world - shows us exactly the star he would become. He falls hard for Gabriel … is he or isn’t he. And let Ta tell you any film that features the Goddess Holly Woodlawn and some of mah girlfriends in fabulous outfits gets five stars in mah book! A well done, superbly acted, fun, feel good movie.

The road to romance is anything but straight in this delightfully campy comedy that takes a hilarious look at the 90’s. Billy Collier, a handsome goateed photographer, has dreams of success in his viewfinder with Read the rest of this review »
